well i dont....

ok heres my problem... just put in a new net card and when i booted up linux a screen cam up (Configure TCP/IP) and asked for 4 different things -- ip address -- net mask -- default gateway(ip) -- and primary name server ---- i didnt know my ip address so i closed it and loaded windows and got it -- when i reloaded linux it never came up -- how can i get this window to come back up? -- also can i just use 255.255.255.0 for my mask ?

If you can provide your distribution (a better bet would be to put it on the info on the left) then I might be able to help better. In the meantime, if you do find where to put the values,

ip address - can be set dynamically - try dhclient eth0
net mask - almost always will be 255.255.255.0
default gateway - your router's IP
primary name server - as above (probably)
