Google OS linux?

If anybody could help me i would really appreciate it. I recently bought a pc preloaded with gOS (google OS). I understand that it runs on linux x86 or something...either way I dont know. To be honest i have never seen linux or used linux before. Im having lots of trouble doing anything. I cant install anything thats not a deb package. I cant do anything. Im really looking forward to using linux but i dont know how it works if anybody could give a few pointers it would really help. BTW I already took some tutorials but I didn't understand it. Thanks :)

It would help if you say what you want to do and what you've tried and why you're having problems.

Since gOS is based on Debian (with all non-free items removed), you may find the Debian documentation useful:

http://www.debian.org/doc/

It may take a while to learn how to click through the links and find what you want.

First gOS is not google OS, it is good OS: http://www.thinkgos.com/

The vast majority of the linux software you need is available in the .deb packages. That this is not you can learn to compile on your system. Be aware that linux does not natively run windows programs. You can use the wine package to run some windows software, but the results vary from program to program. Most windows software has a linux equivalent.

Welcome to LQ!!

The best advice I can add is to take it one step at a time, and ask specific questions. Noone can help you if you just say "I can't do anything".

Why not start with what you CAN do? Tell us if you can connect to the internet, for example. And, have you fount the package manager and installed more SW?
