good video program and mpeg capture card

I have just purchased a panasonicNV-DS60A digital video camera.

I would like to know two things

1. What is a really good video editing program for linux.

2.To get the videos from the camera to the computer I think I need a video capture card (If I am wrong and can do it some other way please inform me). What brand of video capture card is compatable with linux and what things should I look for. ie hardware mpg converter etc.

Hello,

I am not a master in video but I know where you can find useful info ;)
so visit this site and also this article may interest you
About getting videos, I don't think that you must use a video capture card. Your camera may be compatible with IEEE1394 (or Firewire if you prefer), so a firewire interface on your linux workstation may be enough.
Hope this help you
