Personally, unless you've got a good reason otherwise, I'd go with whatever the default fstype is for the distro you use; why complicate things?

I don't think that using fs other than extX would complicate anything. Besides, different distros recommend different fs's, and I find xfs to ba a good compromise (at least in theory). And last thing, choosing file system for /home is the least important matter for me right now. I'll be installing couple of distros in near future to see which one to use in the long run. So it's going to be a testing environment - and it also applies to file system. So I will install xfs first but it's quite likely that I will end up with ext4 or jfs or maybe btrfs.
