Good downloadable introduction to linux?H

Hi. I don't have an internet connection at the moment, but I do have a linux computer. I've seen a few guides to help get people started, but I need one that I can download and view later. Any suggestions? I'm looking for something that will enrich my knowledge of linux and do more than just telling me really basic stuff about how to use programs in KDE. I kind of want to get my hands dirty a bit in terminal. Thanks!

Unfortunately I do have root on the machine I'm using, its part of a school network without internet, so I'm a little limited in what I can do, but I'm sure there's still stuff to be learned.

Welcome to LQ!

Many downloadable guides are at The Linux Documentation Project.

I would suggest Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide for your starting point.
There are several formats available for your consideration.

For a brief information about linux, you can visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux .
Save it to your hard disk and view it later.
If you want to learn about console, search for the bash beginer guide document.
I have downloaded it long ago and now I forgot the address.
Email me if you want that document.
I cann't send you an email with attachment via this website.
