did you also install the documentation?
it may not be installed by default.
it could also be a bug in the gnucash build for suse.
to make life simple, gnucash was designed to be almost identicle to AccPac's Simply Accounting. This means that it is also very similar to Quicken etc.
If you have used any of the "Small / home business" accounting software on windows, you'll not have any real suprises in how gnucash works.
It does lack some of the chart creation features, but then you can import the gnucash data into gnumeric and use the spreadsheet charting features to create a chart.
