gnu make ..

i have a make file which have options for build , install ,clean and hardclean .

When i do
make build dir_name=/home/a

If i build whole thing in directory and if i do

make build dir_name=/home/b

will tell that it is all uptodate ..becos of .make.build.o created in the directory of the Makefile ....

Is there any way around ?

make itself just reads the makefile and follows instructions in there. Without more information about the contents of the makefile, it is impossible to say what is going on.

If you are building an open source project which others can download, please provide a link to that project and say what version you are using so we can download it and take a look at it.

If it is your own project, please post the source and the makefile.
