I continue to have the software drop the modem. I started to think that this is a Gnome problem, as I use Gnome PPP to dial-up. I would use Modem Monitor, but it won't autodetect my modem.
Now when I first installed Hoary, Modem Monitor would'nt autodetect the modem, so I used WvDial. After getting enough updates, Modem Monitor would autodetect and from then on, I could use it, in Hoary. After I upgraded to Breezy, Modem Monitor would'nt autodectect the modem, so I now use Gnome PPP.
In searching for a solution to my dial-up dropout, I came across the following:
His file: gnome-ppp-0.3.23.tar.bz2, is what my question is about
How can I tell if I have this latest version installed?
(I can't find a version number of my Gnome PPP)
How do I open/run/make/install it?
Will Synaptic do this for me?
Do I need to uninstall the "old" program first?
The "Click Here to Find Similar Threads" showed nothing of value connected to my problem. Googling finds almost nothing on "Modem Monitor" and dropped connections or phone trouble, etc.
