Gnome Panel

Ok, this question seems maybe wired, but as I had (...) to upgrade to Gnome 2.4 what I defenitly should NOT do as a Linux newbie, my panel started blinking from horizontal to vertical..., and as I hide it, I couldn't figure out a mode to unhide it... It works fine as root, but life is pretty hard without panel. So where is the panel information stored, and how can I restore/configure it?
Any constructive suggestions, beside changing to kde?
I am using RH9 - Gnome 2.4 (looks really nice and works fine, just the panel...)

If it works fine as root, maybe your regular users settings are broken. Try deleting the file ~/.gnome2 from your home directory. This is where all your local settings are stored for gnome. I don't know for a fact that this will solve the crzy panel problem but it's worth the try...

Also create another user account and start up gnome2.4 with that. See if the flickering happens then.

Good luck!!
