Gnome Interface - Window Preference Settings

Been using Red Hat 8.0 for 2 Months.
Gnome Interface User

Problem with window preferences (I think)

Here's the issue:

(First off I can tell my monitor is set up correctly)

All my windows appear to be unable to be resized
or moved and the open/minimize/close buttons in
the upper right are not visible.

I believe this falls under a 'what have I done' ... looking
to get it back to the reset it to "factory defaults" as it were.

Thanks ahead of time for any pointers.

Are there any window decorations at all, or do the windows appear "naked" as such? If so then open up a terminal and run "metacity" and see if they appear.

Thanks for the response.
Windows tend to be in the upper left hand corner.
They can't be moved or resized.
The 'status' line (states what the window is) is gone
as are the minimize, retore and close icons on the far right.

The scroll bars seem to be locked out as well.

I can see and access the standard file edit view etc. text menu items across the top.

I should have mentioned, run

metacity &

that will let you close the terminal window.
