Gnome Desktop Switcher in KDE - is it possible?
Hey, I was just wondering it was possible to incorporate the Gnome desktop environment switcher into KDE instead of using KDE's?
Why I want gnome's DS instead of KDE's: 1) Touch-Sensitive (Selecting Windows) 2) Window Transfers (Moving Windows from one desktop to another) 3) Desktop Organizing (You can have them in one row, or in 2 or 3 or however many you want... not just 2 rows) 4) It's just all-around better Can anyone help me to make my KDE that much better by putting Gnome Desktop Switcher on my KDE taskbar? Thx a million! |
Gnome's deskswitch can't use in KDE, becouse they use different Windows manager.

I use KDE, and can do the things you mentioned with the default install. To switch a window from one desktop to another, you right click on the box at the bottom of the screen, and tell it to move it to any (or all) of the other desktops. I'm not sure what ytou mean by touch sensative - if you mean you can auto-select whatever window is under the cursor, that can be set in the KDE control panel. AS to the organizing you lose me there too - you can arrange the windows any way you like on every computer I've used oin the last 10+ years. reason 4 I can't comment on, if you like gnomethen by all means, go ahead and use it!

Gnome's desktop switch is better than KDE's.

Try xfce, does exactly what you want by default. Also you could run the gnome desktop and a kicker (KDE panel) at the same time in xfce.
|
xfce could be treated as a lite version of gnome.

^^False
Differs majorly from gnome. Uses a different dm than gnome and kde so You can use both kde apps and gnome apps at same time. You might check out xfce.org or freedesktop.org for more info. |
xfce is real a smart ang faster desktop. i say xfce can be treated as a lite of gnome becouse it is really similar to gnome. I use xfce but dont't like it's filemanager
