GNOME Commander: Cannot write to 2nd disk
Hi there
hmm, hope somebody already solved this one. Coming from XP (never again ;-) I did love Norton Commander and later Total commander. Now found GNOME Commander and I'm happy about that. The problem I'm facing now is it gives me a strange error when I try to write to my new second drive. "The directory 'Dance' doesnt exist. do you want to create it?" (mount point for the drive is /media/Dance). when I press 'yes', i get the message 'File not found'. I can copy files with with nautilus or pcman filemanager. ls -l says: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 2009-04-13 23:07 cdrom -> cdrom0 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2009-04-13 23:07 cdrom0 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2009-04-13 23:07 cdrom1 drwxrwxrwx 3 gre gre 4096 2009-04-19 18:18 Dance drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2009-04-19 18:00 WD1TB my fstab: # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass> proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 #Entry for /dev/sda1 : UUID=4e32bbd2-1e2e-43ae-8f35-44ac8c159d3f / ext3 relatime,errors=remount-ro 0 1 #Entry for /dev/sdb1 : UUID=ad50956c-429e-416c-a8db-aff771a9a1ff /media/Dance ext3 defaults 0 2 #Entry for /dev/sdc1 : UUID=302A61192A60DD7A /media/WD1TB ntfs-3g defaults,nosuid,nodev,uhelper=hal,locale=en_US.UTF-8 0 0 #Entry for /dev/sda5 : UUID=3678da66-f7dc-442d-bd7c-c3abf3dea941 none swap sw 0 0 /dev/scd1 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0 Had some problem getting the drive up and running, so I'm not sure if I did something wrong. but as the problem only exists in gnome commander, I guess there might be a bug... Thanks Gerald ps. I happy to change to another norton commander like file manager if anybody knows of a better one ;-) |
OK, solved this one - by switching to Dolphin file manager - and KDE ;-)
Thanks Gerald |
