Gnome application launcher properties are greyed out, can't change icons

I've installed a few new packages onto my Linux Redhat ES 4 w/ Gnome server. The packages are Firefox 1.07 (replacing 1.04) and HTTrack. THe problem i'm having is that I want to be able to launch these apps from Gnome's launchers, but the launcher properties are greyed out, so the path and the icons can't be changed.

In the case of Firefox, the launcher launches the old version of firefox, not the new one. I know the new one is installed, because after the installation the program ran - executed by the firefox installer, so the problem seems to be with changing the gnome application launcher path to the application.

In the case of HTTrack, gnome has the right path in the application launcher, I'm just trying to change the icon, which also doesn't work due to the properties being greyed out.

I've tried logging in as root and changing the application launcher properties , but they're greyed out when I'm logged in as root to. I've read the Gnome application launcher manual, but there's no mention of what to do if the properties are greyed out.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Logan

Hello there.
This problem was so many times.
I have seen it three times.
I had posted it one times you can see the link here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=328145
This link show how to edit Gnome menu by edit configuration file.
If you look at the smiliar threads at the bottom of this page you can see the link to thread Edit Gnome menu too.

My suggest is upgrade to gnome 2.12
