Question gnome 3 fails to luanch after install

I recently installed Fedora 20 64-bit on my Intel i3 3GHz 64-bit PC. Everything seemed to install with no problem. Got a login screen. I logged in fine. Fedora posted an introductory Gnome Tutorial. I closed the tutorial window and cllicked on "Applications" in the upper left corner of the screen and nothing happened for a few seconds and then I saw a meesage at the bottom of the screen that said:
there was problem encountered with gnome-shell-3.1.0....

I tried reinstalling ... same message.

I finally installed KDE and that's what using to write this post. KDE works, but I'm don't know how to use KDE and I would prefer to use Gnome 3.0

Is there a problem with Gnome 3.0 failing to lllaunch in Fedora 20 and if so, how do I fix this?

Could it be hardware related? KDE seems to be working fine.

Was this a fresh install or an upgrade? Did you already have an existing /home/your-user/ that you saved from an earlier OS? Have you tried lowering the screen resolution in Gnome in case graphics are causing problems? Are you able to open a terminal in Gnome in order to check for updates? Can you start any programs from a terminal? Do you now have both KDE and Gnome installed, or did you do another install with only KDE to get things working? If KDE works, it's not likely that hardware is to blame, although it's not impossible. I am not a Fedora person. I use openSUSE, but I may be able to help with basic troubleshooting.
