Gnome .. ?
Hi all,
i have a problem starting gnome .I use KDE as the default window manager. It is fine when i go : startx on my console (KDE) but can't run Gnome. I tried those : startx gnome-session, /usr/bin/gnome-session but get a secreen asking for options . What should i do to get it running ? PS i can run all of the Gnome programs under KDE with no problems. Thank you. |
You'll need to edit the script that startx calls to alter which window manager it runs. Under slackware thatd be the file /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit/xinitrc . Open this file in a text editor and scroll to the bottom, you should see something along these lines
#Start the window manager: exec kde replace kde with gnome-session or whatever the commmand to initiate your chosen window manager is. |
Cheers :-) .
