well i just now found out that ROOT cannot connect to the internet (stupid ME!) so i signed in with a user and saw on the desktop connect to the internet. i was like WOW, thats easy, unfortunatly its not, i cant get it to connect because of it either responds "Modem cannot be found."(denoted with a *) or "Sorry, your modem didnt respond."(denoted with a **)

/dev/modem*
/dev/ttyS0**
/dev/ttyS1**
/dev/ttyS2*
/dev/ttyS3*
/dev/ttyl0*
/dev/ttyl1*
/dev/ttyl2*
/dev/ttyl3*

those are all i can pick from. hope i wont have to do too much config.

and BTW - PLZ put your instructions in such a way the stupidest person can understand (NO I AM NOT STUPID, I AM JUST NEW)

Do you have a winmodem or a normal modem? What's the COM port of your modem under Windoze?

i have a 3com modem and the port is 4
