Getting Suse 9.1 to recognize my mouse

I been using Mandrake and i thought i would give Suse a try. I started to install Suse but it wont pick up my mouse, I know the maker of my mouse is Microsoft, and im wondering if thats the reason but its really just a regular ps/2 mouse and it works on Mandrake and windows so, im wondering if anybody elese has had a problem such as this one. If so please post your solutions. And for anybody else on the form, if you have any suggestions please post. Thanks in advance.

Here's some mouse help

I've had the same problem as you with previous versions of Mandrake. I have found the following page helpful in getting your Microsoft mouse working in X:

http://koala.ilog.fr/colas/mouse-wheel-scroll/

I know it's a big page, and it may take some additional work on your part to get it working, but it'll be worth it. I had my Microsoft 4-button + scroll wheel mouse working like a charm in X after tweaking some of the things the above website provides tips on, so it's not a lost cause.

thanks a lot for the reply. This problem is so weird because, when i boot up my mandrake distro the mouse works fine and in windows it works fine as well. And here is the interesting/weird part, when i installed Suse on an old Compaq that still uses scsi hard drives, and also uses a microsoft mouse it worked fine, the only problem that i ran into with that computer is that Suse did not support the ATI grapics card that was in it, so while installing the graphics were kidna off. But when i try to install it on my other computer, where i also use windows 2000, it seems to act very strange. I currently have mandrake on another drive, and i dual boot that with windows. So what i was gonna do is install Suse on top of that partition that had mandrake, but when i try to do that i get up to the point where it says installiation settings and it tells me what works on my system. Like the keyboard, and the partitions that i have and other things like that, but then under mouse it says NONE, and i could go further with the installation by hitting the f10 key but it doesn't make sense to install a full distro without mouse support. But thanks again for that site i hope it poses as some form of help.
