Getting started in slack...how to partition?

Well, I'm spoiled rotten by Windows. Its so easy! One partition and thats it! How should I go about partitioning a hard drive? It wont be used for anything but learning Linux on. Its also my primary machine. I'm using slackware, but if anyone has another suggestion for me, I'm open.

talk to 100 different people and you'll get 100 different ways to partition. you only need two, (only one if you have gobs of memory), for now just use 2 primary partitions, 2 x ram for swap, and the rest for /

How much is "gobs" of memory. I have 256MB installed right now with plans to go to 512MB or even a 1GB just for shits and giggles. So for now go with a 512MB partition for swap and the rest for / ? Where should I place the swap partition? At the end of the disk?

for 256mb and above set swap at 256mb, you'll probably never need it,but it can't hurt to have it. i put it at the end, but it doesn't really matter.
