I have tried to install the "Flash and dvd Plugins" to get video to work including dvd and video stream but I cant seem to get this working. I am so new to this that I am not sure that I have the intelligence to use this Os. I have down loaded the plugins including adobe but there always is some barrier keeping them from them working. other than that everything else seems to be fine. this is the first time I am trying to use linux. I have fedora 9 that I got at borders books.

How did you attempt to install the Adobe Flash plugin?

The steps (for system-wide installation) are:

1. close the browser
2. unpack the installer if it is compressed (tar xvf installerpackagename)
3. run the installer as 'root': sudo ./installerpackagename
4. follow the instructions - accept license agreements and tell the installer the install path for your browser (usually something like /usr/lib/mozilla).
5. run the browser again

If you've done all that, then tell us why the thing isn't working - are there any error messages at all, do you get video but no audio, etc.

To see if the Mozilla browser recognizes that there is a plugin, just type in this URL:

You should see something like this somewhere on the page:

hey I finally got the video to work, thanks for helping me get this far but there is no audio. also this totem player doesn't work at all it is the dvd player. I followed your instructions as best as I could I had to print instructions to follow just need to find out how to get sound working. I tried to install plugins for the movie player but I get "missing GPG signature". I don't know what this is. I have downloaded other plugins but none would install because I don't have GPG signature. thats all for now
