Question getting help for using linux


Hi.I've bought a live cd distribution of linux.How can I transfer my files from my VISTA to my LINUX?

Welcome to LQ rooby84!

Now, being that the cd is read-only, you can't transfer files to linux from vista
they will disappera when you reboot/shutdown

or, did you install linux on hd?

The LiveCD is used generally to provide the means to test a distribution. You are given the option to make a installation of that same distribution to your hdd.

Which files are you wanting to transfer?

I haven't installed linux on hd.I tried but I couldn't install linux from CD.may u help me?!

You need to install linux on your HD, before you can transfer files from windows to linux
Which live cd do you use?
I would suggest to download the iso from the distribution you want,for a beginner I would suggest ubuntu
and install linux besides windows on the same HD
First make a backup of all your important files
