Getting "E514: write Error (file system full ?)" error
Hi,
I am new to Linux operating system. I have installed Ubuntu in my laptop. I am getting the following error, when I try to create and write some content into the file in my home directory. "E514: write Error (file system full ?)" I am using ubuntu operating system in my laptop. Note: I use Dual Booting system (Windows Vista and the Ubuntu) I have made a new partition for this OS (18.5 Gb). While installing the operating system, I have exported the windows folders. so I believe this might have occupied all the memory. if it is so ho w to unexport the windows stuff. Thanks, Senthil |
when I run the 'df' command; I am getting following results.
File System 1k-Blocks used Available %use Mounted On /dev/sda7 18239964 17379584 0 100% / so I believe Windows documents have been occupied the total space. so how to demount the windows documents and make use of the memory configured for the Linux system. |
Before jumping to conclusions, I'd recommend the du cmd http://linux.die.net/man/1/du to find what the problem really is.
Try a few options, and post the results (& cmd used) if you don't understand them. |
Thank you so much for your info
I have executed the du command, it lists all the directories and files recursively. I came to know that the files which was there in my windows "Music" Folder are listing here, these files occupies all the space. I have removed those files and tied, I could create new files in my home directory. Still I couldnot unmount those directories, could you please help me on unmounting those directories. Thank you again ~Senthil |
