Getting an error when running make.

Trying to install software/drivers for wireless dongle on my Fedora Linux box. I have downloaded and expanded my files into my /home/me/Downloads.

In my example: /home/cjh/Downloads/LinuxDriver4Fedora_v2.5.0.3
This is where the make file is.

I run make and get an error:
"make -C /lib/modules/3.4.2-1.fc16.i686/build SUBDIRS=/home/cjh/Downloads/LinuxDriver4Fedora_v2.5.0.3/os/linux modules
make: *** /lib/modules/3.4.2-1.fc16.i686/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [LINUX] Error 2"

The directory "/home/cjh/Downloads/LinuxDriver4Fedora_v2.5.0.3/os/linux" does exist.

What am I missing? I have run it as myself and root and get the same error.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

TIA,

Skip

it went END OF LIFE on Feb. 2013
16 has NOT !!! had a security update in 2 YEARS!!!
-- DO NOT USE!!!! --

install the current Fedora 21

THEN
install the driver

16 is end of life... but it also does some things better than F21 - which has intermittent hangs (usually temporary) which F16 doesn't have. NetworkManager seems to work better... so far. Systemd also seems to work a bit better.

You're right about the age. I had this thing in mothballs.

While it may be true that 16 can do something better, my warm and fuzzies will feel better when I upgrade.

I was just in the throes of happiness playing with it, that I forgot to update it.

Thank you John VV and jpollard for your inputs.

fedora by it's nature is a very VERY short lifetime distro
13 months VS the 10 YEARS for RHEL

now this may be changing with 22 and 23 and so on
we will see

it also is a OS that
"pushes the envelope to the breaking point -- THEN past that
-- then fix
and repeat

things WILL be buggy with fedora
sometimes more so than others

Sorry for the delay in response.

I finally got 21 loaded. Mac can't create a bootable USB, CD/DVD drive would not work. Had to take the box apart and reseat (that actually worked), the installed from Live.

21 was REAL simple to install.

I plugged in my little USB WIFI dongle and 21 recognized it right from the git go.

Life is good in a small town.

Again, thanks all, for your assistance and suggestions.
