Try
Code:
yum clean all
After that run "yum update" to check if the problem is solved.

It means that your repo file is wrong. The path (of the remote) machine should lead yum to the repmond. If the path is incorrect yum does not know what to do. Here is the section from my /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-updates :

Quote:
[updates]
name=Fedora $releasever - $basearch - Updates
failovermethod=priority
#baseurl=http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/updates/$releasever/$basearch/
mirrorlist=http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mirrorlist?repo=updates-released-f$releasever&arch=$basearch
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora

Yours (above) compared to mine (below). See the difference?

A lot of those errors are 502. That would indicate to me that it is a network(your's or your isp's) problem not a linux problem.

http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E502.html

If your connection is iffy that would also explain the checksum errors.

error 502 is not shown for all of them .... what to do for the the errors concerning 'Metadata file does not match checksum'

i went through the link you gave up but i was jus wondering that why everything works fine with the other four repositories that i have .... tilll the time only these four(fedora,fedora-source,livna,livna-source)
are enabled ...i don get any problem .but this happens with updates repository .....if other repos are doing fine then i don think it is solely my network's problem ...

so please tell me what next i can do to sort this out ....

thank you

No, the 502 error is not on all of them but it is a sign that something is wrong with the networking between you and the repo. As the same link works for me and tons of others that would indicate that the issue is on your end. This is also confirmed because you are getting multiple failures from multiple servers.

Whatever is causing the 502 error is probably cause you Meatadata download to be corrupted, thus your checksum does not match.

As for the ones that work it may just be luck, smaller size, or some other reason.
