get roadrunner/SURFboard working with mdk9.1

hi, i managed to get mandrake linux 9.1 installed and my hardrive partitioned, the other partition containing winXP. I can't get the internet working. i've searched these forums and other people's similar problems didn't seem to be fully solved. the internet still works on winXP, in fact since i tried configuring the connection in linux, the send/receive lights won't go out, dunno if thats bad?

road runner tech support won't answer linux questions, and they told me to uplug my cable modem for a few minutes to fix the constant send/receive light problem, which didn't fix it.

i went into windows and did ipconfig /all to get the ip numbers and stuff, and i tried plugging them into the mandrake connection wizard. still no luck. thanks for reading and possibly helping me with a reply.

The solution

Here's the simple solution.
When you're configuring you "Network" during the install,
use the Expert setting. When asked "Yes or No" whether there is another ethernet device click the "Yes" button and choose the
"CDC" Usb ethernet device driver. When it asks again if there are any other devices to install, make sure the CDC Usb device is listed on top as available and then choose the "No" option. Just keep hitting "Next" for all other network options and it should be up.
If you still can't get it working, email me and I'll work it step by step with you over Instant Messenger

not its not usb, but i guess i do have the option to hook it up that way. it recognized my realtek ethernet card.
