when kateos is in reguler terminal mode its actually in

i want to drop the res to text mode because this system
does not look that good in that high of resolution and there is an
anoying graphical logo
so how can i change to text only console?

And did you edit /etc/inittab as advised?.

smeezekitty 10-07-2009 07:42 PM

its in console but its a vesa console

the trooper 10-07-2009 07:53 PM

The following link shows changing VESA settings by adding an option to the kernel line:

http://www.wains.be/index.php/2005/1...-under-ubuntu/

Is this the kind of thing you are looking for?.

smeezekitty 10-07-2009 08:05 PM

so i just tkae that off and it will go into reguler console?

the trooper 10-07-2009 08:06 PM

Take what off?.

smeezekitty 10-07-2009 08:28 PM

the vga= line

the trooper 10-07-2009 08:39 PM

The first thing i would do is look at your kernel line,to see if you have a vga entry already.
Then if there is an entry, backup your /boot/grub/menu.lst and try one of the options from the link i posted.

smeezekitty 10-07-2009 08:58 PM

i tried vga=normal now the screen has lines in it

Where did you get that from?.
What was in the kernel line originally?,did it have an entry for vga?
The link shows a numerical value used so for 800x600 size the entry is vga=788.
Try that and see how you go.
Bare in mind this is all guess work,if someone else knows an easy fix on this please post it.
