get Flashplayer working?

Using both the epiphany & iceweasel browser, flash is incredibly slow and will only show smaller flash files. Larger files freeze up the browser.

I have downloaded the neccessary plugins, but those didn't help.

How do I play flash effectively? And can I get it to play automatically (not by clicking the grey play button)
