Gentoo how to log in?

Top of the morning all,

I've just install Gentoo from the 2006.0 x86 LiveCD, after the install is complete and I try to reboot I am presented with localhost login and password, which I do not know.

What did I do wrong or how would I go about correcting this? I cannot seem to get around it.

Thanks
Eric.

If you finish reading the gentoo handbook you will be told to log in as root (the passwd you changed in the install process), and create a user account for yourself. If I remember off-hand this is in the second or third to last section of the handbook.

Regards,

Alunduil

I'm sorry, but I am still not getting it. When I am promped for localhost and password, I am supposed to enter sudo su -?

I enterd a user account and set the password, though when the install completed it stated that the user account failed to be created.

If you can't login as a normal user, try to login as root.

Once you have done that you can create a new user account

Quote:
# useradd -m -G users eric
# passwd eric
New passwd:
Re-enter passwd
