gdm not remembering last session

I always get into gnome when I log in on GDM. I can go to other sessions by choosing it explicitly but on the next log in I'm still logged into gnome.

I checked my rc.conf file and changed the default session to enlightenment but it still doesn't work.

Anyone knows what I can do?

btw. I'm using Gentoo 2005.0

Check whether you have a ~/.xinitrc that starts gUGHnome
for you ;} (Or a ~/.xsession, I don't know which one gdm would
evaluate if it does at all).

i dont know about gentoo, but in fedora, at the command promt you can just type
$ switchdesk <window manager of choice>

ex:

$ switchdesk gnome
or
$ switchdesk kde

give it a try, it might work.
