Gdm

I am runing slackware 9.1 and want to be able to run gdm as a normal user. It does not auto start at boot which i like but i want to be able to type gdm as a normal user and have it come up. now it just says only root can run it.

hi, does /etc/inittab read default runlevel as 5? this is to make it start after booting.

yes, well, i guess the managers are installed setuid root. maybe u can telinit to the runlevel that they use (i guess you should be able to see/set it in inittab).
so, when u want to start them, just telinit to that particular runlevel.
