gdb doesn't show correct string data
I am in Linux using gdb on an .exe file and trying to get it to print out the value of a string.
I used p /x nameofregister to get the address, then x /s address to get the string, but what I get comes out like: "\204 (followed by a bunch of strange symbols)"
This happens even to data that I know is a string with just regular text. Is there a command to convert this into something useful? Or maybe a different command I can use?
