gconf settings?

Hope someone can help me out here, my computer has gone a bit mad! Earlier today I installed wine and winetools from source, everything went fine but when I restarted my computer I get gconf errors when I log on and when I try and run any applications. This happens using both KDE and Gnome. The main error I'm getting is about the configuration server:

Code:

GConf error: Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See http://www.gnome.org/projects/gconf/ for information.
(Details -  1: IOR file '/tmp/gconfd-root/lock/ior' not opened successfully, no
gconfd located: No such file or directory 2: IOR file '/tmp/gconfd-root/lock/ior
' not opened successfully, no gconfd located: No such file or directory

Anyone ever see this before? I'm using FC4 by the way. I have uninstalled wine and winetools but still get the same errors. Is there anyway I can reset all the gconf setting back to what they were when I installed FC4?

Ok I finally figured it out. In case anyone else gets stuck with this problem just delete the
Code:

gconf*
folders from your /tmp and /home directories. Unfortunately you will lose all your settings but at least your desktop will load up :)
