GCC for Suse Linux V9


How do I install the GCC compiler in my X86 Suse Linux V9?
Where do I download the compiler (in binary build) and how do I install it?.
I am very new to Linux -

Thanks for ur help.

try to use Yast to get it. if it is applications you want to compile, you will need other things also, like library -devel packages, autoconf, automake, libtool, flex. sed, gawk, binutils, perl, gcc (for c), g++ (for c++, there are front ends for other languages as well), gettext, etc.......

As __J already said, yast is the easiest way to install GCC.

If you are running 9.1 Personal, you may find this interesting:

This will work for all other versions of SUSE, too, but gcc should be on your installation medium anyway.
