gcc errors using redhat 9


while compiling i recieve warnings about unused parameters and a host of integer warnings. is this normal

What are you compiling?

I've seen several software packages which the compiler issues warnings at (even parts of the 2.6 kernel!). This is most probably harmless.

gcc compiling errors

i was trying to compile a program called celestia-1.3.0. at the end it said recursive error 1. if this help ./configure make make install.

Where did you find that program? If you post a link to it, then I could try to compile it. But it won't happen until Thursday.

gcc compiler error

http://www.shatters.net/celestia/download.html. i use the first tar.gz file on page. it might be the file i tried another for a check of the gcc and recieved no worning of errors.

gateway 600 mhz intell

Hi!

This is somewhat embarrassing, since I have failed to compile it too. I was missing the development kit for QT (a toolkit for graphics) and after I tried to install it from rpm, I still got some errors during configure.

However, I noticed that there was a new version of Celestia (1.3.1) available for download now. You could try to see if you have more luck than I had (I use RedHat 8).

I shall try to download the source for QT (it's available here: http://www.trolltech.com/ ) and see if I can get it to work. Celestia sounds kind of cool, thanks for the link!

thanks

sorry i did not thik of that. the redhat 9 comes wit qt and the missing links. i tried to add a few lib pkgs from rpms and it told me i already had them.
strange system

thank for trying and ill try the new version
