GCC command not found error
 
hi all,

iam very new to linux OS . i just installed LINUX 5 in my system and when i try to do C programs and when i compile it either using GCC or CC it is giving "GCC command not found" or "CC command not found"

please help me how to rectify this error and how to install GCC and run it.

i installed RED HAT LINUX 5 and it was successfull. but i could not compile any C programs and iam getting "GCC command not found" error......i tried to install GCC seperately but not successful......

What does this actually mean? Please tell us exactly what you did and why the process was "not successful". It's difficult to help with so little information.

ok. forget about my GCC installation......just tell me the steps to install GCC compiler .....linux OS installation was succefful but iam unable to compile C/C++ programs and iam getting "GCC command not found" message.....i couldnt compile either GCC or CC......i went to internet looking for GCC sourcecode and i got it at "http://gcc.gnu.org/mirrors.html"......and i got mirror sites"ftp://ftp.mirrorservice.org/sites/sourceware.org/pub/gcc/"......and i got a few files in that infrastructure,libstdc++,relaeses,snapshots,summit files are there....how to donload these files ?.....say for example i right clicked on libstdc++ copy and paste in my computer it is giving infinite time to download......iam unable to download all the files from ftp link.......plz tell me how to avoid infinite time download?

Use your distro's package manager. I assume RHEL provides documentation, so you should find it and read it. Edit: relevant documentation can be found here.
