GC++ Installation

Hi
I am currently using Fedora Core 1 and I am trying to install the MPlayer program (among others). But I keep getting a message that says I do not have a valid C compiler. So I downloaded GC++, but I cannot figure out how to compile and install this compiler. Can anyone help me out, I've reading the install files and such, but due to the fact that I am new to Linux, I don't really understand what they are saying. Please help me out. Thanks.

Tim

Installing gcc/g++ from source is not the easiest method. Do you still have Fedora's installation cd? If you do, look for packages with names beginning with 'gcc'. There should be a number of them. After they're installed, you should have a working compiler.

You can also try - downloading the G++ RPM's for fedora.. Im sure those would be much easier to work with...

I tried using the Add or Remove Packages file, and when I try to update the Development Tools package, I get an error that says, "Package not Found" "Unlocatable Package: libxml2 Required by ('libxml2-python', '2.6.6', '3''). I then tried to update the XML2 program, but it then gave me a similar error when I tired to run the RPM packages. Any ideas? Your help is very mucch appreciated, thank you
