gaim + MSN problems

Currently my comp is running Debian and I have just installed gaim but I have been unable to find the MSN plugin.

How do I get Linux to work on MSN Messenger?

Never heard of MSN Plugin...Gaim just works with MSN. Do you get any error?

It is now telling me that it cannot connect. I think it probably is a problem with the proxy server.

Have microsoft changed the MSN protocals? The version of gaim I am running is: 0.58

If there is a later one how can I get apt-get to retrieve it, if so how?

I think the latest version is 0.82. I run GAIM every day so I dont think MS changed protocols on it. If you are using a proxy...that might be the problem. apt-get should upgrade gaim to latest version...if not then you may try gaim's website on sourceforge (I believe)...

the latest version of gaim is 1.0.0 you're probably running debian stable, if you want to take some chances switch your /etc/apt/sources.list from stable to testing or even unstable, and run apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade.

Yeah latest version of GAIM is 1.0....I haven't had any luck with MSN today...just not connecting for some reason. Not sure what's up.

i've had problems connecting to msn with both gaim 1.0.0 and amsn the last couple of days...it seems it's on thier end...

Somebody on another forum I visit found some m$ site telling that the msn servers were unstable or not responding today.
