Question GAIM error question

When I sign on to GAIM (v 0.59.8) it shows that everyone on my buddylist is signed off, except for myself. Even though I know a lot of them are in fact signed on. When I try to message someone I know is online I get this error:

"The message to username did not get sent: In local permit/dent"

Does anyone know what this means?

Maybe it's because your gAIM version is extremely out of date. Download a newer version here:

Welcome to LQ.

You are using quite an old version of gaim - it may be worth upgrading as the protocols do change from time to time.

My bf and I share the computer, he has root powers, I do not. GAIM works from his account fine, but is messed up on mine. I will have to ask him to upgrade before I see results. Thank you.
