GADMIN Samba configuration
 

I am simply lost in setting up Gadmin-samba. running mandriva 2009.1 64bit.

I don't know what some of the options even mean.

what is winbindd? and do i need it active to share folders with other windows users?

Can anyone point me to a good walkthrough for using this program?

I also have funky network settings:

gateway is : 192.168.210.1
subnet mask: 255.255.255.224

So I think that makes my broadcast address 192.168.210.31 ??

I'm confused.

I used to be able to do this, but time makes fools of us all ;)

I think I have overcomplicated things. After much googling, I have found many places that will help me If i want XP machines to "log in" to the samba server and then share files.

That is NOT what i want.

I just want ANYONE on the network to be able to view and write to a partition of my drive, no log in required.

can someone point me in the right direction?
or give me a copy of their smb.conf if they have this setup...
