I downloaded it and used this command
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496-pkg1.run but it still doesnt work what must i do ? |
I type:
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5328-pkg1.run I get in return: Verifying archive integrity... Error in check sums 2318760848 3169891521 .. I have redownloaded the file several times... not sure what the problem is. |
OK... so I'm not completely clueless then... this must be just my system. I might try a different distribution of Linux.

edit your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file and change the driver "nv" to driver "nvidia" . Also comment out the load "glcore" and load "dri" lines. Add load "glx". Read the README properly. That should help.

Try fedora it found my 5200FX and my system works great :D

Well, my problem wasn't with the setup, it was extracting the drivers from the archived file.. I did install Fedora and it worked fine though, thanks for the advice.
