Full screen in linux
Hi alle, new to the whole linux sceen.
I Have now decited to try Linux Suse 9.1 64bit version because i own a A64 machine. The big question is, Will I be able to play games in fullscreen. It's like this, i play too much Counter-strike but i hate windows so f****** much that i would try some new. Would i be able to play games like Doom3 UT2k4, Warcraft III TFT and Steam(CS). If i can run these games in Fullscreen i definatly change OS right away. Sry for bad spelling i am Danish. Klitgaard (DK) Plz help me out i don't like windows. |
Hi, and welcome to LQ!
I don't have/play any of those games, I'd say it's safest to go to the game-manufacturer's website and see what they have to say about Linux versions. I know that a few games have been ported to Linux and that they supposedly even perform better here than in windows :) Cheers, Tink |
Thanks Thinkster.
But the one thing i have seen in all screenshot's is that They all run their games in window's and not fullscreen. Is this because you can't play them in full screen ? |
No, it most definitely is not the case.
I run all my games in fullscreen (Rune, Enemy Territory, Scummvm, Briquolo), and all at 1024x768, And all of them smoother than they would be in Windows. |
I think they take a screenshot with it in a window to show they're running linux as a desktop, otherwise proving you've got it working in anything but windows might be harder to do ;)

Thx all, i am so happo to hear that it was not the case.... now i wil try Linux thats for sure, but is Suse Linux 9.1 64bit the best for me as a newb? One of my classmates gave me the idear an now i will realise it. Would Suse be a good choice for me?

BTW. I go to alot of LAN's and i would really like to play with others. But would there be any problem creating servers so the others with windows xp ect. can connect and play or me connecting to windows related servers ?

i know that you asked this question a while back, but linux servers are completely compatible with windows clients and vice versa.
