Full Monty wireless wont connect.

Hello,
BRAND NEW to Linux. When I ran my Linux CD to check out how it worked the wireles connection worked properly. After downloading the Full Monty it picks up the connection, but will not connect to it. An error box comes up stating "connection failed". I can connect with an ethernet cable and it works fine. Great forum! Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi mneporter,

Welcome to LQ!!!

Distro means distribution or you can say operating system (OS) that you are using. In your case I can see you are using Full Monty which is PCLinux OS.

From the output that you have pasted your system does detect wireless card:

Code:

06:02.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR2413 802.11bg NIC (rev 01)
As I can understand when you tested the OS using LiveCD your wireless was working fine. However, after install the OS (Full Monty) it didnt work. I am not familiar with this OS but will try to help.

I need to know the following things:

1. During the installation did you get an option to configure wireless?
2. Paste the output of following commands:

a.
Code:

ifconfig
b.
Code:

iwconfig
c.
Code:

ls /dev | grep net
It will worth running the following command as well:

d.
Code:

find / -name ifcfg
e.
Code:

find / -name interfaces

You have to use either sudo or root account to find those files. Did you configure root account during installation? If yes, then use root account to run these commands. If not then run the command as follows:

1.
Code:

sudo find / -name ifcfg
2.
Code:

sudo find / -name interfaces

mneporter 03-06-2012 05:59 PM

[mneporter@localhost ~]$ sudo find / -name ifcfg

We trust you have received the usual lecture from the local System
Administrator. It usually boils down to these three things:

#1) Respect the privacy of others.
#2) Think before you type.
#3) With great power comes great responsibility.
