Full guide to mp3's
 

I just installed the mp3 plugin for my Redhat 9 and have everything up and running... is there any way i can get the files from windows? Help!

Get the files from windows? Are you dual booting? If so you can get the NTFS kernel support rpm and then mount your windows partition and play the files from there.

this doesn't actually have anything to do with mp3's at all does it? just accessinjg a windows file system.

mp3fs

sorry boys (& girls) im a n00b as some of you have already figured... what i was trying to do was to mount my fat32(vfat) drive where all my mp3's where... but i have that solved..... now, any possible way to mount an ntfs? and what players other than xmms are there?

You want to check out this for NTFS support.

But hey, don't listen to me. Nobody else does.

you can normally mount an NTFS partition in the same way, but read only access. search this site for details of how to do this if you can't do it yourself.

I use http://mplayerhq.hu for playing most media types, dvd, mp3, divx etc...

The question had been answered from Fancypiper's link, or a search on the site. So I figured we could have a little fun. :)

Insults? Nah. Jokes, yeah. A little fun never hurt anyone. And if Queensaid was bothered by it, I'd be the first to appologize, the last thing I wanna do is turn n00bs away (I'd have thought that to be obvious by now Chris with my repetative answering of the same old questions troubling nearly every newcomer).

Queensaid, mplayer is a great tool for a lot of media in Linux; however I personally don't find it to be the best thing to play mp3's. You might look into:
mp3blaster
winamp
zinf (which is the old freeamp)
or many others available at: www.freshmeat.net (search for mp3 player).
