Unhappy Fuduntu package manager problem - "cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: fuduntu"

Hello guys,

I am pretty new to Linux.

I just recently installed Fuduntu on my netbook and at first everything worked fine. But suddenly I can not use the package manager anymore.

When I am looking for a software in the search machine of the package manager (for example for "chrome" or anything else) it gives me the following error report:

"failed to use search generator: cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: fuduntu"

I have no idea what that means.
I have already looked it up in different linux forums but I found nobody who had the same problem. And even when someone had a similar problem, I could not understand the problem solving explanation because they used to many technical terms.

Therefore I can not install new software at the moment and even when I tried to install the software over the terminal it stopped at some point and gave me a very similar error report as the package manager.

Could anybody help me with this?

That would be really nice.

Fuduntu is no longer maintained: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuduntu

I recommend you pick a different distro. Lots of good choices for a netbook.

Depends on the make/model/specs of the netbook. I have owned a couple of netbooks with Atom 270 processor and Intel 945 graphics. I found this hardware to be underpowered for watching streaming videos, didn't matter which distro I chose. Maybe your hardware is better than mine and you'll be ok?

My personal recommendation for an easy distro for beginners is Linux Mint. You will want to choose a lightweight desktop environment such as LXDE or Xfce.

Stress Test was installing Hulu TV on my EEEPC 701 with AntiX 8.5 Full Iso with a 7" screen. I keep this netbook updated though with latest libs over time since original install with apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade and have the correct video drivers installed also via smxi script.

I am running AntiX 13.1 on that celeron eeepc 701 now. I have 10gig of movies on a flash drive that play OK with no lag. Also youtube works just fine. Also on my celeron eeepc 900.

I won't use Netflix. I don't like it. I also run AntiX 13.1 on my Atom M&A Companion Netbook.

It streams movies and youtube just fine also.
