ftp to site through iexplorer not working

I am running Redhat 9 with vsftpd setup. My setup is running except for one problem. I was asked to setup a user with access only to a specific directory where he can ftp into to get info. Created the user with that directory as his home set chroot so that is his root. If I use a FTP program like Bulletproof I can login everything 100%, if I however try to ftp login through iexplorer I get the following error. An eror occured opening the folder on the FTP server. Make sure you have permission to access the folder. Details: 550 : Failed to change directory.

Any ideas. Thanks

Welcome to LQ

Check your FTP server logs, and try ftp'ing in locally from the command line with that user:
ftp whatever.com
Username:
Password:

And then see what the error is, and post IT up. Also post up the relevant section of your FTP log (or system log if it's one in the same).

Cool

Make sure in IE that you have it set to browse ftp sites, etc in your Internet Options > Advanced

Also sometimes it helps to type in the full address including your username and password included like this:

ftp://<username>:<password>@ftp.server.com
