FTP problems

Hi,

I'm having trouble ftp'ing some html pages internally from my laptop to my web server. It's the first time I've tried so please bare with me.

My laptop is running XP Pro and I have SmartFTP installed, my webserver is running Fedora 1. I am attempting to connect to 192.168.4.2 (fedora) box with a valid username but get the message "connection is actively refused". I presume I have a setting(s) in a Fedora config file that is not allowing me to FTP my files across.

Be really grateful for some help, so I can get on with publishing smurphy.org.

Thanks :-)

Steve

Check your
etc/hosts.allow
/etc/hosts.deny
and your FTP config file (depends which FTP pkg you are using).

seems there was no ftp daemon running, I downloaded proftpd with "apt-get install proftpd" and started the ftp server with "service proftpd start" and away I went.

Thanks

Steve
