ftp help needed

Hi all
I am VERY new to linux

I have install everything that i need and have got past general configurations , most programs startup on boot ok

however i cant seem to get ftp working

what i mean is i cant ftp FROM nt to linux

I thought i could setup linux as an ftp server for my nt machine
on the nt box i am using a free ftp client (ws-ftp)
but it constantly returns an error message (500 invalid command)

ws-ftp web support suggester i switch on passive tranfers but that did nothing

any ideas

There are a lot of ftp programs out. Look at tucows for some free stuff that will work.

Of course you will need to have linux setup to accept ftp.

what type of errors do you get when you use the Windows command line ftp clinet? Do you every get logged in? Is ftp properly configured in the /etc/inetd.conf file?
