ftp from windows to ubuntu

I have to download alot of file from a windows archive machine to a linux box. The windows ftp server has a two minute timeout so I have to do it manually. It would be great to write up a script for this.

wget fails
[CODE]
casper@caspbox $ wget userass@ftp://182.38.61.61
--2012-01-26 14:59:00-- ftp://user/pass@ftp://182.38.61.61
=> `172.18.41.61'
Resolving corearchive... failed: Temporary failure in name resolution.[/CODE}

ncftpget connects and it downloads just the first
directory files. Like it does not migrate down to
casper directory - it just download everything from the first directory you get when you connect to the ftp server.

Code:
ncftpget -u username -p password -R  ftp://172.18.41.61 C:\_MNTPT_VOL1\Archive\SAVE\casper\

Have you tried something like PuTTY on the Windows side? That will let you ssh (and scp) back and forth. See http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/.

Hope this helps some.

I dont have access to the windows box . it is out of state.

the ncftpget connects - it just has trouble resolving to the directory i need to download from .

When I connect to the windows box from my linuxbox via FTP it list the directories in a unix format. - it uses the forward slash instead of the windows backskash.

Code:
ftp> pwd
257 "/windowsarchive/Boston/beantown/Old_files" is current directory.
ftp>
again ncftpget gets to the box - it just does not go to the directory i want
