Im trying to ftp into a mandrake 8.0 box I just built as root so I can load a website, my first question is how to get in as root, i have removed the root from the ftpuser file and have given ftp priviliges to him but it still will not let me in, the other question is the program ftpeditor which is the only other program i havent used because it gives a signal 11 SIGSEGV crash, any help would be greatly appreciated,

from what i know (i dont know that much) you cannot get into your computer with FTP as root. <~~~ppl correct me if i am wrong! I think your best bet is to connect to your computer as a normal user and use the superuser command to become a superuser which will give you access to most of the stuff you can do with root (i think you can do everything i am not sure on that either) su
