hello,
i have a problem here scince i installed linux i can't ftp or telnet
on my self
i get an error message " conection refused "
i have installed all the rpm packages that have ftp or telnet in its name from the CD, what else could i do ????
i have redhat 7.3 i am trying to check the services themselves at first , i can ping my loopback 127.0.0.1 but i can't ftp or telnet
plz reply soon it os urgent
if you want to ftp or telnet to the machine you need to have the respective servers running.
'rpm -qa |grep telnet'
'rpm -qa |grep ftp'
and check if the above command gives out the servers. if they are not there then you need to install them. if they are installed then you need to configure them
first i have a silly problem i can't find pipe in my keyboard
second how can i configure them, i need to know the exact name of the 2 services plz when i run " service ftp status " i get unrecognized service i think they r not installed but these r all the packages on the CD that have ftp or telnet in their names
how can i know the packages needed to install certain service ??
