Ftp access

Trying to ftp to the linux box from Unix machine outside the network. Getting login failure. I put the user who needs the ftp access in the /etc/ftphosts file and also the /etc/ftpaccess file. Still no luck.
What other files I need to configure to have access from the Ftp.

Which ftp server do you have installed? There are different methods of configuration (different configuration files and so on).

Ftp

I have wu-ftp running, I got to turn on the FTP. I can connect it just won't let users log on. It give me logon incorrect trying to log on with registered user on the RH 8 system.
Do I need to configure users for FTP and where can I do this?

Thanks again

I modified the /etc/ftpaccess file by using the
class all real 206.171.50.*
the real command tells FTP that all users stored in the /etc/passwd should be allowed if I am correct.
I tried username: anonymous
and it works, that scares me.
